Moving in...

It's been two weeks since we 'officially' moved into our new place on Clarkson Street. Dave was a real hero and coordinated the transfer of all our stuff from points A and B (my parents' place and his parents' place) to point C, our new flat/condo. We were impressed by how much stuff we had, and especially all the stuff we felt it important to move all the way from Fremont and store for two years. I guess after living with almost nothing in Berlin for two years, a lot of the things we had before seem like real luxuries.

That is, except for the furniture, most of which we sold before leaving California. So we have a stand-in table and chairs for now, but mostly empty space waiting for furniture we've ordered.

The Sunday after the big move we invited our parents over for a little Prosecco to thank them for all their help in making it possible for us to purchase our first home, and toasted out of wine glasses that we received from Dave's Iowa relatives for the wedding and had not ever been able to use.

The part that stinks is that although Dave was here for two weeks to move in, he's back in Berlin working on his thesis and I'm at the new place alone for a couple more weeks before returning to Berlin for part of the summer. So although our idea of our real 'home' has now transferred from Berlin to Denver, 'home' is still split in half until we're together again. Fortunately, I have two trips (Washington D.C., Austin) to keep me busy in the coming days, so I'll be back in good old 'Schland in no time...
